Early Life & Education
Born in Cairo in 08/07/2000, Fahd was raised in Egypt in an Arabic-speaking household. He joined Nefertari International School in 2004, his alma mater school. He briefly lived in Riyadh between 2005 and 2008, where he studied in King Khalid International School (KKIS).
After obtaining his IGCSE A-Level degree in 2018, Fahd joined the German University in Cairo (GUC) on a scholarship, where he studied in the Faculty of Information and Engineering Technology, specializing in (Tele)Communications Engineering, a large branch of Electrical Engineering.
In April of 2024, Fahd moved to Germany to pursue graduate studies in Engineering in the University of Ulm in Ulm, Germany. There, he studied modules focusing on Integrated Electronics, as well as Radio Frequency and Microwave Engineering disciplines. He is expected to obtain his Master’s degree in April of 2026.
Besides his studies, Fahd works as a Research Assistant in the Department of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry in the University of Ulm. His work focuses on building control and automation interfaces for laser-based chemical measurement systems. Fahd’s intrigue of both Engineering disciplines and Natural sciences highly influences his study and career choices, and his future research interests.

Academic & Research Interests
Al-Seba’ey is a huge advocate for the importance of interdisciplinary study and research. Although he does not deny the importance of highly specialized knowledge, he insists that a lot can be benefited from giving breadth a similar amount of attention as depth. During his Master’s, Fahd took on several modules that are unrelated to his program in engineering, in the hopes of increasing his chances of obtaining a graduate research position as a PhD student. Such modules included Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Mechanobiology.
Fahd’s primary area of interest is the art, science and engineering of Spectroscopy, as he believes that it is an unbelievably powerful tool with immense explanatory and exploratory power. More specifically, Fahd hopes to harness his education and experience in Radio Frequency Engineering to participate in the method development of new spectroscopic systems. Nevertheless, Fahd’s interest in spectroscopy is not only that of an engineer or system designer, but also that of someone who is highly intrigued by secrets of quantum physics and chemistry, and believes that spectroscopic techniques continue to be an incredible tool for pushing the boundaries of science, and unravelling the secrets God has discretely laid in the fabric of the universe.
In addition, Fahd expresses a general interest in research areas that combine well-established engineering disciplines with cutting-edge science, like Nanoengineering, Computational Sciences, and Cell Dynamics.
Most people nowadays have become convinced of the impracticality of multi-disciplinary study, accusing “generalists” of being “a Jack of all trades, but master of none”. I find that view deeply disappointing: of all the intelligent people I have encountered, it is those with a broader, more comprehensive understanding who impress the most. These individuals have no limits on what they learn or read about, and their knowledge inspires a sense of awe. To be a generalist is to see the world in more colors, to think in more than one language, to see connections to which others are blind, and to view every problem from multiple dimensions, dimensions that others do not know exist.
